Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) announced on April 18 that her office has nominated Selena's 1994 album "Amor Prohibido" to the Library of Congress's National Recording Registry for historic preservation. The nomination follows Texas' observance of Selena Day on April 16, commemorating the late Tejana star’s birthday. The Library of Congress's National Recording Registry is a list of sound recordings that are culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant and/or inform or reflect life in the United States of America. If accepted, it would be the first recording by Selena in the National Recording Registry.
