Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz of Texas's 15th District recently visited the White House to discuss water delivery issues with President Trump. The meeting focused on Mexico's failure to fulfill its obligations under the 1944 Water Treaty, which requires them to deliver a specific amount of water to Texas.

De La Cruz expressed her concerns about the impact of this shortfall on South Texas, stating, "It was an honor to meet with President Trump in the White House to advocate for South Texas and share the devastating impacts of the Mexican Government’s refusal to deliver on their water obligations." She added that both she and President Trump are committed to holding Mexico accountable for these obligations.

The Congresswoman's team is collaborating with the President's legislative affairs team to ensure that Texas receives the over one million acre-feet of water owed. "This is a step in the right direction for not only South Texas but our entire nation," De La Cruz stated.

As part of her ongoing efforts, De La Cruz has sent a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio requesting that Mexico be held accountable during trade negotiations. Additionally, she introduced H.Res. 71, condemning Mexico for its annual failure to meet water delivery requirements.
