Enrollment Analysis: American Indian students comprised 0.2% of New Braunfels ISD schools' student body in 2022-23 school year

There were 23 American Indian students enrolled in New Braunfels ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 14.8% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that New Braunfels ISD schools welcomed 9,745 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, American Indian students comprised 0.2% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

New Braunfels ISD roughly covers schools within Comal County and has a main office in New Braunfels.

Among the 15 schools in New Braunfels ISD schools, Oakrun Middle School recorded the highest enrollment of American Indian students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of six students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
