The Greater Second Baptist Church has been given a $10,000 loan from Main Street America to make repairs to its roof.
“Our church has been in need of a roof for a very long time and as a small organization we have not been able to afford the repair,” Greater Second Baptist Church representative Commie Holmes said in a post on the Seguin Economic Development Corp. website. “This loan will get us to our fundraising goal and allow us to make the repair.”
The church has been located in downtown Seguin for 44 years, according to the post.
The church’s loan is part of Main Street America’s Historic Commercial District Revolving Fund. The first round of loans was distributed to the Texas communities of San Augustine and Texarkana in 2016. The program has since been expanded to the additional Texas communities of Rockwell, Seguin and Winnsboro.
