CITY OF NEW BRAUNFELS: Public Library to Close Wednesday & Thursday Due to Construction

Close

City of New Braunfels issued the following announcement on Sept. 28.

The New Braunfels Public Library on East Common St. will be closed except for Curbside Services on Wednesday and Thursday of this week (Sept. 30 & Oct. 1)

The New Braunfels Public Library on East Common St. will be closed except for Curbside Services on Wednesday and Thursday of this week (Sept. 30 & Oct. 1) for construction ahead of the installation of an automated materials handler inside the front lobby.

Sullivan Contracting Services will be removing a wall in preparation for the installation of an automated materials handler in the area where the front entrance book return is currently located.  As the name suggests, the automated materials handler will automatically check in and sort returned materials like books and videos.  The automated system, which will be installed in mid-October, is designed to free up staff members so they can spend additional time assisting library patrons.

Because of the construction, the library facility will be closed to the public on both Wednesday and Thursday for the safety of patrons and staff.  However, library staff will still be able to continue to offer curbside services from 10am to 6pm both days.  Library patrons can place items on hold using their online accounts and then pick them up once they’ve received a notification that their items are ready.  As with any construction delays may be possible, so please check the library's website and social media outlets to see if this closure extends into Friday (Oct. 2).

For more information about services and activities at the New Braunfels Public Library, please visit their website or call 830-221-4300.
