CITY OF NEW BRAUNFELS: Funeral Details for Fallen New Braunfels Marine

Funeralservice

City of New Braunfels issued the following announcement on Aug. 24.

Funeral arrangements have been made for New Braunfels native Marine Lance Corporal Guillermo “Willie” Perez, who died tragically on July 30th during a training mission off the coast of California that also took the lives of eight other Marines.

Visitation by members of the public will be held at Zoeller Funeral Home everyday from 8am to 5pm through Wednesday, August 26th.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 27th, at 10:30am at Tree of Life Church.  Burial will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery; however, due to COVID-19 restrictions, only family members will be allowed into the gate at Ft. Sam Houston.

The New Braunfels Fire Department will have two ladder trucks set up at the exit to the church, once again creating an arch with a large United States Flag hanging between the two ladders.  The New Braunfels Police Department, along with other surrounding law enforcement agencies, will be providing a police escort for the funeral procession from the church to Ft. Sam Houston.  Drivers along the procession route should expect delays.  For those planning on viewing the procession, the city asks that you do so safely.  Please avoid parking or standing in such a way that blocks traffic.  Please also remember to practice social distancing and, when that is not possible, wear a mask.

Condolences for the family, as well as memories of Lance Corporal Perez, can be left on the Zoeller Funeral Home website by following this link: https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/new-braunfels-tx/guillermo-perez-9298590
