City of New Braunfels issued the following announcement on Aug. 10.
On August 2nd, 2020, at approximately 1:50pm, the New Braunfels Fire Department was called to the 100 block of Granite Run in the Comal Farms subdivision for reports of a structure fire.
Units arrived and found a 3-bedroom/2-bathroom manufactured home fully involved in flames. Crews immediately went to work putting out the fire and determined that the structure was vacant and unoccupied at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported and the home was a complete loss with damages estimated around $70,000.
The cause of the fire was investigated by the New Braunfels Fire Marshal’s Office and it was determined that the fire had been intentionally set. Based on evidence collected during the investigation, an arrest warrant was obtained for 34-year old Christopher Wayne Evans of New Braunfels charging him with 2nd degree felony Arson of a Habitation.
On today’s date (08-10-20), at approximately 12:00pm, investigators located Evans at a friend’s residence in the 100 block of Morales Court and he was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Comal County Jail where bond was set at $20,000. As of this release he remains in custody.
