CITY OF STAPLES: Guadalupe County Has 8 Confirmed Cases of COVID-19 Confirmed

City of Staples issued the following announcement on March 25

 Guadalupe County has 8 confirmed cases of COVID-19 confirmed by the Texas Department of State Health Services.

As testing becomes more available, Guadalupe County expects to see an increase in positive tests throughout the County. Guadalupe County remains committed to monitoring the COVID- 19 situation actively and will make decisions that keep the citizens of Guadalupe County safe.

Guadalupe County officials strongly encourage citizens to follow Governor Abbott’s Executive Order GA-08.

Order No. 1 - In accordance with the Guidelines from the President and the CDC, every person in Texas shall avoid social gatherings in groups of more than 10 people.

Order No. 2 - In accordance with the Guidelines from the President and the CDC, people shall avoid eating and/or drinking at bars, restaurants, and food courts, or visiting gyms or massage parlors; provided, however, that the use of drive-thru, pickup, or delivery options is allowed and highly encouraged throughout the limited duration of this executive order.

Order No. 3 - In accordance with the Guidelines from the President and the CDC, people shall not visit nursing homes, retirement, or long-term care facilities unless to provide critical assistance.

Order No. 4 - In accordance with the Guidelines from the President and the CDC, schools shall temporarily close.

We also encourage citizens to follow the guidelines about social distancing, keeping 6ft between you and others.

In future press releases, Guadalupe County will report the number of cases confirmed. If a confirmed case falls within the jurisdiction of a City, the City will make the notification about those cases.

Guadalupe County continues to work side by side with Federal, State, and Local partners, School Districts, Hospitals, Medical Professionals, Private Industry, Non-profit organization’s and many other partners to ensure the health and safety of our citizens.
