City of New Braunfels issued the following announcement on March 25
In a continued effort to help combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Mayor Barron Casteel issued a “Stay at Home, Work Safe” order for the City of New Braunfels. The order, announced this afternoon, goes into effect at 11:59 PM on Wednesday, March 25th
and requires residents of the City to remain home. Those engaged in exempted activities are mandated to abide by and maintain social distancing requirements of at least six feet. The order is in effect until lifted by the Mayor of New Braunfels.
The order further requires all non-essential businesses to close. Restaurants may still offer to go, delivery and curbside orders. Residents are allowed to enjoy the outdoors, so long as they maintain the six feet social distancing requirements. Example of businesses and services exempt from this order are listed below:
• Healthcare Services to include hospitals, clinics, dentists, pharmacies, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology companies, other healthcare facilities, including veterinary services;
• Grocery stores including farmers’ markets, farm and produce stands, supermarkets, food banks, convenience stores, and liquor stores.
• Food cultivation including farming, livestock, and fishing
• Businesses that provide food, shelter, and social services, and other necessities of life for economically disadvantaged or otherwise needy individuals;
• Newspapers, television, radio, and other media services
• Gas stations and auto-supply, auto-repair, and related facilities
• Banks and related financial institutions
• Hardware and construction supply stores
• Plumbers, electricians, exterminators, and other service providers who provide services that are necessary to maintain the safety, sanitation, and essential operation of residences, Essential Activities, and Essential Businesses
• Businesses providing mailing and shipping services, including post office boxes
• Laundromats, dry cleaners, and laundry service providers
• Restaurant and other facilities that prepared and serve food, but only for delivery or carry out

The City has set up a hotline for residents and businesses to call for information. That number is 830-221-4222 and will be answered by the New Braunfels Public Library staff. The information line will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday beginning March 25, 2020.
