Comal County officials implement Stay Home order for the community in response to coronavirus

Ward

Comal County and the City of New Braunfels are taking steps to fight the spread of the coronavirus.

As of March 29, there were nine confirmed cases in Comal County. Comal County Judge Sherman Krause issued a Stay Home/Work Safely order on March 26. County residents are encouraged to stay at home and avoid social gatherings.  It also asks businesses to allow employees to work from home and implement flexible leave policies.

Water recreation businesses, which the area is known for, have been asked to shut down voluntarily. Close contact businesses, including nail and hair salons, massage therapist and personal spas were also asked to shut down voluntarily.

The courthouse and other Comal County buildings have been closed to foot traffic.

“Comal County has faced many disasters with one common storyline – citizens do not wait for someone to do things for us or tell us what to do,” the release states. “We step up and do what is right for our community, and the COVID-19 crisis is no different.”
