City of New Braunfels issued the following announcement on Feb. 11.
Baby Day 2020 at the Westside Community Center on Saturday, Feb. 15, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
The first years of a baby’s development and experiences are critical to their future, and in celebration of these early years, families with little ones under three years of age are invited to attend Baby Day 2020 at the Westside Community Center on Saturday, Feb. 15, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
This event, which is free and open to the public, is intended to provide a day of celebration and positivity for the tiniest New Braunfelsers and their caregivers.
“We are thankful to have amazing resources in our community that love to partner together,” said Outreach Coordinator Jennifer Hernandez. “With the help of Jaci Gonzales of SJRC Texas, formerly known as St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, we were able to team up and bring in other local resources — not to mention some fun and engaging activities — to the community center on Baby Day, which we hope is the first of many held each year in New Braunfels.”
Activities on schedule so far include:
- 10 a.m.: Baby Day Begins
- 10:30 a.m.: Infant Massage Demo with Meliss Loyola from Blessed Baby Infant Massage
- 11:30 a.m.: Baby Storytime with New Braunfels Public Library
- 12 p.m.: Baby Food & Nutrition Demo with Jennifer Lankford from New Braunfels Food Bank
- 1 p.m.: Mommy & Me Yoga with Jessica Brischke from Holistic Empowerment Resources
“Baby Day” is an event hosted across the state of Texas through First3Years, a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1980 by childhood clinicians who wanted to make sure that quality care was available for all infants and toddlers. In 2019, First3Years launched Baby Day, “the only ever statewide celebration of the first three years, when early experiences shape lifelong potential” it says on its website.
